AsianFin -- The United States added nearly 380,000 new millionaires in 2024—averaging more than 1,000 per day—as wealth creation surged ahead of the rest of the world, according to UBS’s latest global wealth report.
Despite a modest 1.5% growth rate, the sheer size of the U.S. millionaire population meant the country added the most new members to the seven-figure club by far. “Given the size of the American millionaire population, this translates into an additional 379,000 such individuals within a single year — or over a thousand a day — weekends included,” the report said.
By comparison, countries like Turkey and the United Arab Emirates saw higher percentage increases in millionaires—8.4% and 5.4%, respectively—but far smaller absolute numbers, with Turkey adding 7,000 new millionaires and the UAE 13,000.
UBS’s findings underscore the outsized role of the U.S. in global wealth accumulation, as well as the widening gap between the world’s wealthiest economies and emerging markets.
