AsianFin – Chinese EV maker Avatr is accelerating its push into overseas markets by ramping up in-house development of intelligent driving systems.
The company plans to build on existing solutions from Momenta to develop its own autonomous driving technology for next-generation models aimed at global markets.
Avatr is currently assembling dedicated R&D teams for intelligent driving and smart cockpits, covering areas such as intelligent space, chassis systems, and vehicle architecture. The new teams will total nearly 300 engineers.
As part of an internal restructuring, Avatr has merged its self-developed and outsourced intelligent technology units into a single Platform Technology Development Department. Former R&D head Hu Chengtai has been reassigned to parent company Changan Auto, while the integrated smart tech team now reports to Vice President Jiang Qian.
