AsianFin -- OpenAI expects ChatGPT’s user base to eventually scale to billions globally, according to Fidji Simo, the company’s incoming head of app operations. Speaking to Chinese media outlet TMTPost on June 12, Simo said the ultimate goal of AI is to transform the lives of everyone on the planet.

She highlighted productivity, healthcare, and education as key areas that will drive demand for AI agents and smart devices.

Simo, who was invited to join OpenAI in May and is expected to formally take on the role later this year, will oversee a wide range of operational functions, including finance and product development—responsibilities previously managed in part by CEO Sam Altman.
