AsianFin -- Foxconn sent nearly all of its iPhone exports from India to the United States between March and May, a sharp increase from the 2024 average and a clear reflection of Apple’s evolving supply chain strategy to mitigate U.S. tariffs on Chinese-made goods.
According to commercially available customs data reviewed by Reuters, 97% of the $3.2 billion worth of iPhones exported from India by Foxconn during the three-month period were shipped to the U.S. This marks a significant shift from the 2024 average of just over 50%, when shipments were more broadly distributed to markets including the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, and the U.K.
The shift underscores Apple’s accelerated push to diversify its manufacturing base beyond China and optimize its trade routes as it grapples with ongoing geopolitical and tariff pressures stemming from U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade policies.
