AsianFin -- Meta announced Thursday a significant investment in AI company Scale and the recruitment of its CEO, Alexandr Wang, to join a team focused on building “superintelligence.”

The move underscores CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s renewed push to accelerate Meta’s AI capabilities as it battles rivals like Google and OpenAI.

While financial details were not disclosed, Scale said the investment lifts its valuation to over $29 billion. The company will remain independent, but the deal will “substantially expand” its commercial partnership with Meta. Meta will take a minority equity stake in Scale as part of the agreement.
