AsianFin -- A federal judge ruled Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump unlawfully federalized thousands of California National Guard troops, ordering that control be returned to the state.

Senior U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer sided with California Governor Gavin Newsom, who sued Trump and then-Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth earlier this week. The lawsuit followed Trump’s decision to call up the Guard in response to protests in the Los Angeles area triggered by his administration’s strict immigration policies.
