AsianFin -- Starbucks is turning to artificial intelligence to streamline operations behind the counter.
The Seattle-based coffee giant on Tuesday unveiled “Green Dot Assist,” a new AI-powered virtual assistant designed to help baristas work more efficiently and speed up order fulfillment.
Developed in collaboration with Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI platform, the tool is being piloted at 35 stores, with plans for a nationwide rollout next year.
Green Dot Assist will provide baristas with step-by-step drink recipes, suggest ingredient substitutions when supplies run low, and recommend food pairings to offer customers. It will also help troubleshoot equipment issues and assist store managers in finding backup staff when shifts need coverage, according to the company.
