U.S. and China Craft Trade Framework to Restore Trade Truce

AsianFin -- The U.S. and China concluded two days of high-stakes trade talks in London with a preliminary agreement to restart the exchange of sensitive goods — a breakthrough now awaiting final approval from Presidents Donald Trump and Xi Jinping.

Following roughly 20 hours of negotiations, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the two sides had developed a framework to implement the Geneva consensus that led to the rollback of tariffs last month.

“First we had to get sort of the negativity out,” Lutnick said. “Now we can go forward to try to do positive trade, growing trade.”
