AsianFin -- California Governor Gavin Newsom said the state will file a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Monday over its decision to deploy National Guard troops in response to protests in Los Angeles against federal immigration raids.

In a Sunday evening interview on MSNBC, Newsom said the lawsuit would challenge the Trump administration’s move to federalize the California National Guard without the state’s consent—a rare and controversial action with little precedent in U.S. history.

“Donald Trump has created the conditions you see on your TV tonight. He’s exacerbated the situation—he lit the proverbial match,” Newsom said. “This is an illegal act, an immoral act, an unconstitutional act. He’s pouring fuel on the fire ever since he announced he was taking over the National Guard.”
