AsianFin -- The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced Friday that it will extend a set of tariff exclusions for imports from China through August 31, 2025.

The exemptions, originally set to expire at the end of May, apply to goods targeted under Section 301 tariffs related to China’s technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation practices.

The move provides temporary relief for U.S. businesses relying on specific Chinese components and products, amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Beijing over trade and industrial policy.

The USTR said the updated notice has been published in the Federal Register. A broader review of tariff policies is still underway, following the Biden administration’s strategy to maintain pressure on China while offering targeted relief to U.S. manufacturers.
