AsianFin — China and Japan held a new round of technical talks in Beijing on Thursday regarding the safety of Japanese aquatic products, marking substantive progress in the ongoing dialogue, according to an official update from China’s General Administration of Customs.

The meeting was held at Japan’s request and follows multiple rounds of technical exchanges between the two countries since the beginning of the year. The discussions aim to address concerns raised by China over the safety of Japanese seafood, particularly in the wake of Japan’s discharge of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant.
