Amazon Sees No Major Shift in Consumer Demand Despite Tariffs, CEO Jassy Says

May 21, 2025, 10:49 p.m. ET

AsianFin — Amazon CEO Andy Jassy told shareholders at the company’s virtual annual meeting on Wednesday that the U.S. tariffs imposed under U.S. President Trump have not led to any noticeable changes in consumer demand or significant price increases on its e‑commerce platform.

Roughly 60% of the products sold on Amazon are offered by third‑party sellers. Jassy noted last month that some sellers were stocking up in response to tariff headlines but had held prices steady. At Wednesday’s meeting, he said there are now signs that some third‑party vendors have raised prices on certain items, while others have not.

“Third‑party sellers have broad sourcing options and are focused on offering customers the best prices,” Jassy said, adding that overall demand remains resilient even amid ongoing trade policy uncertainty.
