AsianFin -- Malaysia’s government is preparing a new round of incentives aimed at strengthening its domestic semiconductor industry, with details expected to be unveiled in July, according to state media.

Trade Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz confirmed the plans but did not disclose specifics, saying only that the government remains committed to supporting the chipmaking sector, Bernama reported on Wednesday.

Malaysia plays a key role in the global semiconductor supply chain, contributing 13% of worldwide testing and packaging capacity. The country has recently secured multibillion-dollar investments from major players such as Intel and Infineon, underscoring its strategic importance in the industry.
