AsianFin -- China has warned it may pursue legal consequences against individuals or organizations that support or enforce U.S. measures discouraging the use of advanced Chinese semiconductors.

The warning follows U.S. guidance issued last week stating that companies could risk violating export controls if they use Ascend AI chips produced by Shenzhen-based Huawei.

In a statement, China’s Ministry of Commerce said those involved in implementing such U.S. restrictions could face "corresponding legal liabilities," calling the measures "discriminatory and restrictive" toward Chinese firms.

The ministry also urged the United States to adhere to international economic and trade rules and to respect other nations' rights to scientific and technological advancement.
