AsianFin -- Baidu Inc. is preparing to bring its autonomous ride-hailing service, Apollo Go, to Europe and Turkey, as part of a broader international expansion of China’s self-driving technology sector.
The company is in talks with PostAuto, a subsidiary of Swiss Post, to launch robotaxi operations in Switzerland, according to a source familiar with the matter. Baidu aims to begin testing in the country by the end of 2025, the person said. The Wall Street Journal first reported the plan.
Apollo Go is among a wave of Chinese autonomous driving platforms pushing beyond domestic borders. U.S.-listed WeRide, for example, already operates in over 30 cities across 10 countries, including China, the UAE, France, and Singapore. Baidu’s expansion marks another step in the global race to commercialize self-driving technology.
