China Lifts Boeing Delivery Ban After U.S. Tariff Truce

May 13, 2025, 3:23 a.m. ET

AsianFin -- China has lifted its ban on domestic airlines accepting deliveries of Boeing aircraft, following a temporary tariff reduction deal between Beijing and Washington, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, Chinese authorities this week began notifying local carriers and government agencies that U.S.-manufactured aircraft deliveries can now resume.

The move comes after months of stalled handovers. In April, at least three Boeing jets stationed at the company’s China delivery center were sent back to the United States. Boeing previously said Chinese customers were unable to accept new aircraft due to retaliatory tariffs and that it was exploring options to resell dozens of planes.

On Monday, the U.S. and China agreed to significantly lower reciprocal tariffs—cutting rates of over 100%—for a 90-day period as part of ongoing trade talks held over the weekend in Geneva.
