AsianFin -- The Trump administration plans to soften the blow of its automotive tariffs by reducing duties on foreign-made parts used in U.S.-manufactured vehicles and preventing overlapping tariffs on imported cars, officials announced Tuesday.
"U.S. President Trump is forging a vital partnership with domestic automakers and our great American workers," Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in a statement from the White House.
"This move marks a significant win for the President’s trade agenda, rewarding companies that manufacture in the U.S. while giving time and space to those committed to expanding their domestic operations."
The Wall Street Journal was the first to report the development.
