China's DeepSeek AI Reinstated on South Korean App Markets

Apr 28, 2025, 3:34 a.m. ET

AsianFin -- Chinese artificial intelligence service DeepSeek returned to South Korean app markets on Monday, marking its comeback after a nearly two-month suspension.

Downloads were halted earlier after South Korean authorities cited violations of data protection regulations.

Last Thursday, South Korea's Personal Information Protection Commission stated that DeepSeek had transferred user data and prompts without obtaining consent when it initially launched in the country in January.
