AsianFin -- Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao met with Hildegard Mueller, president of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), in Beijing on Sunday, encouraging German automakers to seize new opportunities and strengthen their confidence in investing in China.
Wang emphasized the complexity and severity of the current international environment, citing rising unilateralism and protectionism by certain countries. "China and the EU are two key pillars in defending multilateralism and free trade," Wang said. He urged the VDA to continue playing an active role in promoting Germany and the EU's commitment to maintaining the multilateral trading system and safeguarding global supply chain stability.
Wang also called for a swift and proper resolution to the EU’s anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).
