AsianFin -- China has introduced nearly 100 embodied AI robotic products since 2024, securing 70 percent of the global market, an official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said on Saturday, highlighting the country’s growing leadership in the emerging sector.
Speaking at an industry forum in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu Province, Du Guangda, an MIIT official, noted that China is currently the only country with a complete industrial chain for humanoid robot manufacturing — spanning production, supply, and after-sales service.
China’s journey in developing humanoid robots began in the late 1980s. According to Xiong Rong, a humanoid robotics expert based in Zhejiang Province, most Chinese companies have adopted a strategy of “integrating full-machine development with independent research on key components” to accelerate product iteration.
Xiong told the Global Times on Saturday that domestic humanoid robots are now capable of stable walking, running, and standing—performance levels that rival international counterparts. “These capabilities are largely driven by advances in motion control algorithms, which have significantly enhanced robots’ balance and stability,” Xiong said.
