AsianFin -- Chinese tech giant Baidu has activated a massive computing cluster powered by 30,000 of its self-developed third-generation Kunlun P800 chips, CEO Robin Li announced Friday.
The cluster is capable of training large-scale AI models similar to DeepSeek, Li said at Baidu’s annual developer conference.
The term “illuminated” refers to the process of powering up the chip cluster and preparing it for intensive training workloads. The update marks a significant milestone in Baidu’s push to build a competitive AI infrastructure within China, amid growing efforts to reduce reliance on foreign technologies.
