AsianFin -- Nissan plans to reduce production in Japan of its best-selling U.S. model, the Rogue SUV, between May and July, according to a source familiar with the matter—marking the latest shift by a global automaker in response to heightened U.S. import tariffs.

The move follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a 25% tariff on cars manufactured abroad, a policy that has sent shockwaves through the international auto supply chain.

As Japan’s third-largest carmaker, Nissan is particularly vulnerable. The United States remains its largest market, accounting for more than a quarter of its global sales last year—many of which were produced in Japan or Mexico.
