South Korea to Investigate 'Made in Korea' Violations Ahead of US Tariffs

AsianFin -- South Korea is set to conduct a special investigation into violations of the free trade agreement (FTA) with the United States regarding country-of-origin labeling, the Korea Customs Service (KCS) announced on Tuesday, in anticipation of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs.

As one of the 20 countries with a free trade agreement with the U.S., and one of only three in the Asia-Pacific region, South Korea benefits from the elimination of nearly all tariffs on goods traded between the two nations. The KCS said it will examine products exported to the U.S. for any discrepancies in marking the country of origin.
