AsianFin — Italy's national newspaper Il Foglio has announced the publication of the world's first newspaper entirely written using generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The AI-generated content was distributed as a printed insert within the main newspaper on the same day, prominently labeled with the "AI" logo to indicate its origin.

The headlines, summaries, and articles in this special edition were all created by AI. Staff at the newspaper provided the AI platform with prompts based on the day's news, and the technology generated the corresponding content.

Notably, the newspaper's team stated that they did not verify or correct any errors in the AI-generated articles, even if the content contained inaccuracies or diverged from the publication's editorial stance.

According to Il Foglio, this AI-generated newspaper is currently in an experimental phase. The initiative marks a groundbreaking step in the integration of AI into journalism, raising questions about the future role of human editors and the reliability of AI-generated news.
