AsianFin -- Zara, the fast-fashion brand owned by Inditex, has launched a new flagship store in Nanjing, China, as part of its strategy to streamline operations by closing underperforming locations and focusing on larger, more immersive retail spaces.

Opened on Friday in the city’s central business district of Xinjiekou, the 2,500-square-meter (26,909-square-foot) store spans two floors and features a private shopping salon with a lounge area and personal fitting rooms. It also introduces enhanced digital integration and experiential spaces designed to encourage longer in-store visits, with China serving as a testing ground before potential expansion to other markets.

Zara’s retail refresh comes as global brands face increasing pressure in China, where a broader consumer spending slowdown and competition from agile domestic brands with strong digital ecosystems have reshaped the market.
