AsianFin -- Dozens of foreign CEOs are set to visit Beijing this month for a high-profile development conference, with some expected to meet President Xi Jinping, according to a draft agenda and sources familiar with the matter.

The annual China Development Forum will be held on March 23-24 at Beijing’s Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, two sources told Reuters.

According to a draft agenda seen by Reuters, attendees include the CEOs of FedEx, Siemens, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Qualcomm, AstraZeneca, Nestlé, Saudi Aramco, Citadel, Rio Tinto, Deutsche Bank, McKinsey, Estée Lauder, Standard Chartered, and KPMG. Top executives from leading mining, engineering, and healthcare firms are also expected, with a notable increase in European representation compared to previous years.

Xi is likely to meet a select group of foreign chief executives in the days following the summit, potentially including European and British CEOs, though the timing and attendee list remain subject to change, one source said.

As geopolitical tensions rise, Beijing is eager to attract foreign investment and stimulate domestic consumption amid renewed U.S. tariff pressures. Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump imposed 20% tariffs on Chinese exports, prompting retaliatory duties from China on American agricultural products.
