AsianFin -- Deepseek Limited and DEEPSEEK (HK) LIMITED have recently been established in Hong Kong, marking a significant step in the region's artificial intelligence (AI) development.

In response to this development, a spokesperson from the Hong Kong Innovation, Technology, and Industry Bureau exclusively told Securities Times that they welcome more innovation and progress in AI between mainland China and Hong Kong, aiming to provide society with cost-effective, secure, reliable, and ethically compliant AI applications.

The spokesperson said that Deepseek's innovative technology and cost-efficient training of large language models serve as a valuable reference for Hong Kong's efforts to develop its own local language models.

This initiative is expected to inspire further innovation and research in Hong Kong's AI sector. "We will continue to monitor and reference the latest advancements in AI technology, hoping that Hong Kong can further develop and apply diverse and outstanding AI technologies to drive the overall diversified growth of the AI field in the region," the spokesperson added.
