AsianFin -- Sony raised its operating profit forecast for the year ending March by 2%, now projecting 1.34 trillion yen ($8.70 billion). The upward revision was attributed to the robust performance of its key gaming business.

In the third quarter, Sony reported an operating profit of 469.3 billion yen, a 1% increase compared to the same period last year, driven by growth in both its gaming and music sectors.

Once renowned for consumer electronics like the Walkman, Sony has expanded its business portfolio to include games, movies, music, and image sensors.

President Hiroki Totoki is further consolidating his influence within the conglomerate, set to take on the CEO role starting April 1.
