AsianFin -- U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's economic team is exploring the option of incrementally raising tariffs on a monthly basis, a strategy designed to strengthen negotiating leverage while minimizing the risk of inflation, according to sources familiar with the discussions.

One proposal includes a phased tariff increase of 2% to 5% per month, which would be implemented under the executive powers granted by the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
