Auto Supply Chain Shifts to a Grid: CATL Executive

Jan 10, 2025, 10:56 a.m. ET

AsianFin -- Guoliang Hu, Executive President of CATL Intelligent Technology, said on Thursday at CES 2025 that the strucutre of the future supply chain for the auto industry will be a grid.

"The current supply chain of the auto industry is shifting towards a grid, which is the trend of the future. It’s not only our view, but it is also shared by Chang’an Auto, which has divided their whole car platform into six or seven layers," said Hu. "Therefore, we must consider horizontal integration on each layer. The grid structure of the supply chain is being formed, which also changes the structure of the whole car and the relationship between various suppliers."
