China-born Gene-Editing Pioneer Zhang Feng Wins U.S. Top Award

AsianFin -- Zhang Feng, a China-born biologist and a leading figure in the field of gene-editing, has been honored with the United States' highest accolade for technological achievement during a ceremony at the White House. Zhang was one of nine individuals recognized for their groundbreaking contributions.

A professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Zhang was awarded the prestigious National Medal of Technology and Innovation for his pioneering work in developing the CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing tool. The US Patent and Trademark Office, which oversees the awards, highlighted that this revolutionary technology has far-reaching applications in both agriculture and medical research.
