AsianFin -- Dong Zhiyi, Chief Expert on Low-Altitude Economy at the China Aeronautical Society, emphasized that the development of the low-altitude economy must not rely on hype or a rush to expand. In his remarks at 2024 T-EDGE Conference on December 6, he stressed the need for a gradual, well-considered approach that balances inclusivity with caution.

According to Dong, ensuring low-altitude safety is paramount to allowing policies to evolve and the sector to grow. He stated, "Only by safeguarding low-altitude safety can we loosen regulations and encourage sustainable development. High-level safety must be the foundation for high-quality growth in the low-altitude economy."

Dong stressed that controlling safety risks should be the top priority in the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). "Safety is the only thing that matters, everything else is secondary. Without safety, there is no low-altitude economy," he said. Dong underscored that the strength of low-altitude policies depends on maintaining safety standards. He also called for the promotion of innovation in emerging aviation while empowering traditional aviation to improve quality and efficiency. Furthermore, he highlighted the role of both government leadership and market-driven initiatives in expanding new application scenarios, while constantly enhancing risk identification and prevention capabilities.

He warned, "Without application scenarios and a clear market, it will devolve into mere hype, which could have negative consequences."
