AsianFin –EU-China relations are independent of U.S. policy decisions, said Jorge Toledo Albiñana, the European Union's Ambassador to China at the 2024 T-EDGE Conference and TMTPost Annual Economic Meeting in Beijing Daxing on Friday.
Centered on the theme "ALL-in on Globalization, ALL-in on AI," the event brings together thought leaders to explore new trends and paradigms for global business growth in an era shaped by AI's transformative impact.
“China-EU relations, to the greatest extent, is not dependent on they, what happens in the White House," said Albiñana. "I think it's a fair description as one of partnership, one of competition and one of systemic rivalry," he added.
There might be a possibility of another partnership within the WTO, as the U.S. does not seem likely to reinstate or support a new appellate body. Additionally, a partnership with China exists, allowing the use of the WTO for resolving trade disputes, he noted.
