AsianFin -- Apple is reportedly facing obstacles in its collaboration with Baidu to adapt the Chinese tech giant’s AI language model for iPhone users. Apple and Baidu engineers are working to enhance the model, but sources familiar with the project revealed that the model has struggled with understanding prompts and accurately responding to common scenarios posed by iPhone users. As of the publication of this report, Baidu has not responded to inquiries regarding the issue.
Earlier market rumors suggested that Baidu's AI would be integrated into Apple's upcoming products, including the iPhone 16, Mac systems, and iOS 18, to provide enhanced AI capabilities. Apple CEO Tim Cook had previously indicated that Apple’s AI would roll out new languages and features starting in April 2025, leading to speculation that Chinese iPhone users could be among the first to experience Apple’s AI offerings as early as next spring.
