India to Broaden EV Manufacturing Incentives Following Tesla's Withdrawal

Nov 29, 2024, 3:23 a.m. ET

AsianFin -- India is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing incentives to include automakers producing models at existing factories in the country, rather than restricting the benefits to those building new plants, according to a source familiar with the matter.

The country's EV policy, still under finalization, was initially aimed at attracting Tesla to manufacture locally. However, the U.S. automaker decided to abandon those plans earlier this year.
