Asianfin -- Thailand's economy stands to benefit from a potential U.S.-China trade war, according to Thai Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan, who spoke on Thursday. He emphasized that Thailand enjoys strong relations with both the U.S. and China, allowing the country to remain neutral and avoid choosing sides in the dispute.
Minister Pichai explained that if a trade war results in reduced U.S. imports of Chinese goods, Thai products could fill the gap, leading to an increase in Thai exports to the U.S.
"We maintain a good balance between the U.S. and China. Both nations have positive relations with us, so we don't need to take sides," he stated. He also highlighted that a delegation of American businesses is set to visit Thailand in November.
Pichai expressed hopes for increased U.S. investment, citing plans by hard disk manufacturers Seagate and Western Digital to expand their operations in Thailand.
