Michael and Susan Dell Pledge $6.25 Billion to 25 Million U.S. Children for Stock Account

Michael Dell, the founder of Dell Technologies, and his wife Susan Dell announced on Tuesday that they will donate $6.25 billion to provide a financial “starter fund” for 25 million children across the United States, according to a statement released by them.

Each eligible child will receive $250 under the initiative, which is designed to strengthen long-term economic opportunity for young Americans, according to the statement.

The donation will support the “Investing in America” plan, a federal initiative set to begin in 2026. Under the program, the U.S. government plans to open an investment account for each eligible newborn and seed it with $1,000 in federal funds. According to the plan, any U.S. citizen infant born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028, and issued a Social Security number, will automatically receive an account funded by the Treasury Department.

The Dells’ contribution extends financial support to children who fall outside the federal program’s newborn windows, particularly for U.S. children aged 10 and under born before 2025. Their donation is expected to reach approximately 25 million children, with priority given to those living in communities where the median household income does not exceed $150,000.

In their announcement, the Dell family said the initiative aims to help millions of children build a stronger financial foundation early in life, complementing the federal government’s upcoming investment-account program.
