Intel announced on Monday that Chief Executive Officer Lip-Bu Tan will personally oversee the company’s artificial intelligence initiatives following the departure of its Chief Technology Officer, Sachin Katti, to ChatGPT maker OpenAI.

Katti, who had been leading Intel’s AI efforts since a management reshuffle earlier this year, said on social media platform X that he had joined OpenAI. His exit marks another major leadership change at the U.S. chipmaker as it seeks to strengthen its position in the fast-evolving AI semiconductor market.
